Dennis E. Gregory is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Counseling and Director of the Higher Education program at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to his current position Dennis served for over twenty-four years in a variety of student affairs positions at colleges and universities in the Southeast. He has directly or indirectly supervised fraternal organizations at all of these institutions.
Dr. Gregory holds the degrees of Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of Virginia. His B. S. in History and Political Science was earned at James Madison University after completion of an Associate of Arts from Ferrum College.
Gregory is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and received the 1988 Grand Prytanis Key Leader Award from his fraternity. He has served his fraternity as a chapter advisor, chapter alumni board member, District Vice President and District President. He attended the 1986 Interfraternity Institute held at Indiana University.
Dennis has served in a variety of professional leadership positions including service as President of the Association for Student Judicial Affairs and President of the North Carolina Housing Officers. He represented ASJA on the NIC Commission on Values and Ethics from 1994-95 and the first NASPA Fraternity/Sorority Summit. He chaired the ASJA Greek Life Committee from 1997-99 and from 1995-97 served on an AFA sponsored joint commission to study fraternal culture.
Dr. Gregory has presented over fifty programs, seminars, keynote addresses and other media events including Freedom Speaks, sponsored by the Freedom Forum First Amendment Center on PBS, and a national satellite teleconference on Greek Life sponsored by the University of Vermont. Many of these presentations dealt with Greek life, judicial affairs and higher education legal issues. He has published more than thirty book chapters, monographs, journal articles and book reviews.
